Fast Food & Infertility: What’s the Connection?

Food. For many, it’s a source of fuel, a necessity that keeps them humming through life. For more, food is often entertainment, a best friend, a quiet respite after a weary day.

For women on the path to parenthood, however, food, specifically fast food, can have a major impact on her reproductive health. A recent study revealed that women who indulged in drive-thru dining took longer to become pregnant and struggled with infertility compared to those who chose healthier fare.

“This should really be a wake-up call for all of us,” says Dr. Satin S. Patel, who spoke with ESPN radio about the connection between infertility and fast food. “The common denominator is refined, ultra-processed food that’s high in sugar.”
