Female Fertility Testing

Female fertility testing is the first step to overcome infertility and welcome a baby

You aren’t alone if you’re struggling to conceive. Fertility issues affect millions of US couples. At Fertility Specialists of Texas, our team is working to make infertility a thing of the past. To accomplish this goal, we offer male and female fertility testing and highly effective fertility treatments. Our Dallas-Fort Worth fertility clinic performs comprehensive fertility tests for women to establish the cause of infertility. Once your doctor has this vital information, he or she can develop your customized treatment plan.

Take the first step with female fertility testing

When it comes to fertility tests for women, our Dallas-Fort Worth fertility clinic team leaves no stone unturned. As a result, we use many diagnostic testing tools to determine what’s causing your fertility struggles. Depending on your needs, female fertility testing may involve the following tests.

Bloodwork can provide valuable information about your ovarian reserve (egg supply). Our team will review several hormones, including follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), estradiol and anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH). On Day 3 of your cycle, an FSH level of less than 12 reflects  normal egg quality. Your estradiol level should be greater than 10 but less than 68. As for AMH, a lower level suggests fewer eggs are remaining. Blood testing can also allow our team to screen for inheritable genetic disorders like cystic fibrosis or sickle cell disease.

A pelvic ultrasound will occur at your first appointment to look for any abnormalities like ovarian cysts, polyps or fibroids.

A hysterosalpingogram (HSG) is a test that occurs between Day 6 and Day 10 of your cycle. It involves using a catheter to insert a special dye through the cervix and into the uterus. Using X-rays, we watch the dye flow through the reproductive tract. Doing so allows us to see the interior contour of your uterus and determine whether your fallopian tubes are open. This type of female fertility testing is not to be confused with a saline infusion sonohysterogram (SIS or SHG), which only evaluates the uterine cavity.
