The infertility community has been rocked by the COVID-19 crisis, which has all but halted treatment for millions of patients. The March 17th, 2020 guidelines issued by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) called for the suspension of elective surgeries and new treatment cycles, as well as the possible cancellation of embryo transfers. ASRM upheld the guidelines on March 30, 2020 and advised it will review again in two weeks.
While the wait-and-see period moves forward, Dr. Daniel Skora, a reproductive endocrinologist with Fertility Specialists of Texas, advises patients to remain proactive in planning and preparing for treatment.
