An American Idol Has a Baby

 December 30th, 2016

{September 12, 2016}

Last week, American Idol alum Brooke White welcomed a beautiful baby boy. The birth of any baby really is a miracle. But for those of us who experience infertility, we cling to stories of hope. We find solace in knowing we aren’t alone, and that’s why the birth of Brooke’s miracle baby, Sonny, was so fun to read about.

Brooke announced her pregnancy back in February after a successful round of IVF and I’ve been following her ever since. If statistics hold true (and they do), more than 7,000 of her 58,000+ followers have or will experience infertility. And, while Brooke’s Instagram feed captures the attention of fans that have followed her music career for the past decade, it now captures the hearts of women who hold on to the light she shares. Brooke’s story helps take this uncomfortable label of infertility and makes it something that somehow we’re more okay with. Brooke personalized the IVF process and gave us a success story and a happy ending to hold on to.

We know that Brooke isn’t the only celebrity mom to experience infertility. More and more of them are sharing their journeys with us. And, for the same reason we feel stronger, more capable, even inspired by watching them on the big screen, we feel the same when they show us that they, too, lived through infertility and came out on the other side. So, thank you Brooke. Thank you for being a voice. There is strength in numbers, and we’re glad to stand with you.

Hi! I’m a proud IVF mom of two amazing boys, thanks to the expert care at Fertility Specialists of Texas. I know, first hand, how lonely infertility can be, which is why I write personal entries for the FST blog  — it’s my way of helping break through the isolation. To let you know you’re not alone. And, neither am I. If you ever want to chat with someone who’s had empty arms, who knows the heartbreak of this journey, I’m here. And, I’d love to connect: fstivfmom@gmail.com.
